Waimarie Wines
Founded
in 2000 at Muriwai, Auckland, Waimarie Wines is owned by viticulturalist Stephen Nobilo and his parents
Steve Snr and Valerie Nobilo. Waimarie Wines is focused on
producing premium quality, handcrafted wines.
In
1999 Steve Nobilo Snr purchased 171
acres in the Muriwai Valley. In September
of the same year Stephen Jnr planted three acres
of Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. Over the next three years a
further three acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot were planted.
The
first vintage released from the Muriwai
Valley vineyards was a 2002 Merlot Cabernet Franc.
In
addition to wines released from the estate vineyards in Muriwai, Waimarie Wines continues to
source grapes from premium vineyards sites in Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Marlborough.
